Exam day: how to approach the taxi exam for the best result
ID, arrival time, time management and how to handle uncertain questions – a calm plan for exam day.
Before you go
Arrive at the driving test office at least 30 minutes before the set time and bring valid ID – without approved identification you cannot take the test. At the office you are photographed for the licence. Sleep well the night before; being rested beats last-minute studying late in the evening.
Managing the 50 minutes
Each test has 50 minutes, which is plenty of time if you do not get stuck. Go through the questions at a calm pace, mark the ones you are unsure about and move on rather than freezing. Save a few minutes at the end to return to the marked questions with fresh eyes.
Uncertain questions and trial questions
Never leave a question unanswered – an educated guess is always better than a blank, since an unanswered question counts as wrong. Remember too that each test contains a few trial questions that do not affect the result, but since you cannot tell which they are, answer every one just as carefully.
Nerves and after the test
A little nervousness is normal; breathe calmly and trust your preparation. You get the result shortly after the test. If you fail one test, you simply rebook it – but keep the six-month rule in mind, that both tests must be passed within six months of the first pass.
